Lunch and Language

Caixa de Fósfor = Matchbox

Is it possible to tell the story of your family in the language that you might not know? After spending the magical afternoon with Jennifer Cabral-Pierce, we have learned that it is possible.

Jennifer, who works at PU Library, is a photographer and visual artist. She told us the story of her maternal grandmother in the context of patriarchal society in Brazil and shared with us the unknown story of her family which she discovered by searching the archives during the pandemic. For the first time she had an opportunity to watch her award winning experimental film Matchbox together with the audience. Later she answered the questions in English.

Here is the link to the film Matchbox/Caixa de Fósfor which was shown at different festival across the world.

Additonal resources that accompany the film can be found here
