Understanding Salary Negotiation
We are happy to announce that IEGAP launched a multi-part Professional Development Series on Empowered Decision Making. The first session “Understanding Salary Negotiation” took place on June 21st. It was facilitated by Krystyn Kitto, Senior Associate Director in the Center for Career Development and it covered salary, compensation and benefits discussions with prospective employers. Next sessions are planned to take place after the summer.

The IEGAP has partnered with the Women’s Employee Resource Group (WERG) to explore the exhibit at Art@Bainbridge. We will explore “Cycle of Creativity: Alison Saar and the Toni Morrison Papers” with a member of the Art Museum’s visitor engagement team, followed by a discussion over lunch. There are 4.5 million other U.S. citizen children who, like them, have at least one undocumented parent and are part of mixed-status families, ABRAZOS is the story of 14 of them. Lunch & Language: The Philippines
The first Lunch & Language of the year featured The Philippines. It was held on January 24th at the Louis A. Simpson Building. The presenters were Ma. Florevel (Floe) Fusin-Wischusen with the Princeton Institute for Computational Science & Engineering and Marie Burke with the School for Public and International Affairs. Both were born and raised in the Philippines— Floe is from the Province of Iloilo and Marie is from the capital city of Manila. The presentation started with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem titled “Lupang Hinirang” rendered by the presenters. It was followed by a discussion on the Philippine history, its pre-colonial alphabet and writing system, cultural traditions…

Lunch and Language: Philippines
Please mark your calendars for our next event, Lunch and Language, with a focus on the Philippines. Our speakers will present in Filipino language with an opportunity at the end to ask questions (in English😊) and there will be wonderful food from a local Filipino restaurant. Bead and Bond Event
Crafting is the finest way to unwind during a lunch break at work. The Craft and Chat committee organized a Pandora-style bracelet event called “Bead and Bond.” The participants gathered around a table, grabbed their beads and bracelets, and got right to work. The event reminded us of all of our elementary school crafts days as we talked about color-coordinating beads and charms. Some participants crafted two or three bracelets to distribute to friends and loved ones. An hour of crafts was followed by tea, coffee, cookies, and a lovely cranberry cake.
