Fall Member Meeting

It was great to see so many members, both new and old, during our first in-person meeting of the fall. We hope that everyone had a great summer, was able to take some time off to refuel, and is excited about the new academic year.

Here are the most important topics covered in our meeting.

We discussed continuing the virtual International Film Club events. We are looking for  members to join the Committee to help select the movie for the month through Kanopy, plan the group discussion date, set up and send out the Zoom meeting to the group, and moderate the discussion. We also considered other options for in-person screenings which the committee members might plan.

If you would like to volunteer for the International Film Club Committee, sign up here.

We discussed reviving the Lunch and Language series. We are looking for members to join the Committee to help plan and coordinate with speakers, create and circulate promotional flyers, manage RSVP, reserve the room, and order food. The current committee members will organize an event with DAP (Disability Alliance at Princeton) that they are working on for November.

If you would like to volunteer for the Lunch and Language Committee, sign up here.

We also discussed upcoming Craft and Chat events. We are looking for members to join the Committee to help plan craft events: buy supplies (funds will be provided), manage RSVP, and reserve the room. One potential craft that was a hit last semester that we want to bring back is the “Cutouts” with Marianna Bogucki. We have all the materials required and just need to coordinate with Marianna to set the date.

If you would like to volunteer for the Craft and Chat Committee, sign up here.

We discussed improving the Communications for IEGAP. Members suggested different communication methods to avoid sending out numerous emails to members. We are looking for members to join the Communication Committee to streamline communication (such as a newsletter, posts on websites, a sharepoint folder that will list upcoming events, etc.).

If you would like to volunteer for the Communications Committee, sign up here.

Princeton Community Connect Program

Princeton Community Connect Program (PCC) is run by a few community volunteers who are affiliated with the Friends of the Davis International Center and they are looking for volunteers:

“Would you be interested in being a volunteer family with PCC this year? Students do not live with PCC volunteer families. We simply are a local cultural and social connection for the students, most of whom have never been to the U.S. before. An occasional dinner, meet-up in town or a movie — it’s whatever you want to make of it. It’s a lot of fun and a terrific learning opportunity!

If you’re interested in learning more about PCC or other programs the FDIC offers in support of Princeton’s international student community, please email at fdic@princeton.edu or go to our website.”
